Under the above title, Muriel
Visser, Florida State University, and Jan Visser, Learning Development
Institute, presented the results of an in-depth study into the
reality and challenges of learning in a rural community in Mozambique
from the perspective of the women and men themselves. The paperwas presented and
discussed at the annual International Conference of the Association
for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) held
in Anaheim, CA, October 22-25, 2003. The learning stories of
the individuals and communities in question highlight the important
role that learning plays in their lives as well as the frustrations
faced by their authors in their quest for learning. Implications
for development interventions and educational policy were discussed.
