Perspective 3Learning, a lifelong disposition
The emphasis is on disposition.
Two dimensions of disposition:
- emotive disposition (attitude of openness)
- meta-cognitive/emotive disposition (set of skills or ability to learn)
(Saying that learning is lifelong - in the above sense, i.e. as a disposition - is simply stating the obvious.)
Notes:
The particular area of learning for peace requires a shift of emphasis in our conception of learning from the cognitive and meta-cognitive to the emotive and meta-emotive.
This has implications for the choice of conditions of learning we must attend to in the broad learning environment. This has for instance to do with how we, and our children, get, on a daily basis, immersed in a sea of implicit values through the broadcast media. The same holds true for the world of gaming as well as the real world of human and social interaction.
